As of January 1, 2024, Romania has introduced restrictions on the import of sugar from Ukraine

From January 1, 2024, the Romanian authorities limited the import of Ukrainian sugar and introduced mandatory licensing for importers. According to preliminary information, licenses will be issued to processors, packers and producers. According to the results of the last two years, Romania is the largest importer of Ukrainian sugar among all EU countries, followed by Italy and Bulgaria.
